Myrddin Snippet

Below are the words, which will just have to be read.

In this scene, the goddess Cerridwen appears to Myrddin who has fled into the woods after the Battle of Arfderydd (573 C.E.). Myrddin is the precursor to the wizard Merlin. Riderch Hael, victor of the battle, is married to Myrddin’s twin sister and has had his son slaughter Myrddin’s beloved King, Gwenddoleu. In a furious rage, Myrddin slays the boy before he realizes who he is and flees the battlefield. He lies dreaming at the bottom of the applie trees when Cerridwen descends on aerial silk where she proceeds during the scene to seduce Myrddin and entices him to return to stand up to Riderch Hael. I have also included a mock picture so you can imagine Cerridwen slinking along the tree branches much like the proverbial snake. Since this operamedia presentation has modern dance, aerial dance, and video, you will easily get the picture once everything is put together. This is the time for all who like my work to call it to the attention of young millionaires (or old millionaires, middle aged anything) to support my art).

Myrddin
Shuttered is my soul,
Silenced, my inner voice
Stars have devoured the sun,
And I lie on the dark side of the moon.

Cerridwen
Awake, my dear Myrddin, you dream.
The eagle sits Gwenddoleu’s horse
While raven cloud the sky,
To shield you from Hael’s wrath.
